Articling Program

Articling students at Harrison Pensa serve two five-month rotations, one in our Business and Financial Services Group and one in our Litigation and Dispute Resolution Group. They support partners and associates with research, drafting, file and client management, and assistance at discoveries, motions and trials.

Hands-on experience

Articling students learn partly by seeing, but mostly by doing: we believe there is no substitute for hands-on experience when it comes to really absorbing the life of a practicing lawyer. We expect our students to be full partners and participants in all the files they work on.

Active mentorship

Our highly regarded Mentoring Program gives articling students the support they need to meet their expectations. One partner and one associate take responsibility for ensuring that each student receives personal attention, guidance and encouragement on everything from legal work to career choices.

The London Advantage

London provides lawyers with a middle ground between Bay Street’s long hours and extreme pressures and small-town practices’ limited repertoire and life experience. Harrison Pensa is a collegial firm that keeps professional hours in one of Ontario’s most vibrant emerging high-tech cities.

Social and community responsibility

Harrison Pensa is known through southwest Ontario as a law firm that takes its social responsibility seriously. This applies both to our work as lawyers and in our status as professionals in the wider community. Articling students are expected and encouraged to participate in all the firm’s social functions including certain charity events throughout the year.

Financial benefits

In addition to paying a competitive annual salary, Harrison Pensa also pays for articling students’ enrollment in the Solicitor and Barrister Examinations and pays full salary during that time. Health care and dental coverage, group and optional life insurance, and paid parking are also supplied. Articling students also receive two weeks of vacation time.
