Today (December 11, 2018) at 9:30 am EST, the Supreme Court of Canada will hear appeals in two related price-fixing class action matters out of British Columbia – Pioneer Corporation et al. v. Godfrey (SCC File No. 37809) and Toshiba Corporation et al. v. Godfrey (SCC File No. 37810). It is anticipated that the Supreme Court of Canada will address several matters of importance to not only price-fixing cases but to class actions more generally.
Jonathan Foreman, is appearing on behalf of the Consumers Council of Canada who was granted leave to intervene on the appeal. On behalf of the Consumers Council of Canada, Jon will address the importance of access to justice and redress for Canadian consumers in both the context of a global price-fixing conspiracy and as a matter of systemic class actions practice more generally.
