Harrison Pensa is strengthening its plaintiff personal injury legal team with the appointment of veteran personal injury litigator Karl Arvai, founder of Arvai Personal Injury Lawyers, along with associates Chris Nicolis and Adam Stevenson, who are also joining the firm.
Harrison Pensa – a full service firm offering a wide range of legal services – has signalled its intent to continue to grow and expand its personal injury law practice with this latest round of significant hires following the previous appointment of Paul Scott who joined the firm in 2016.

The appointments of Arvai, Nicolis and Stevenson take effect January 1st, 2017.
Karl Arvai was called to the bar in 1978 and founded Arvai Personal Injury Law Firm in 1981. As a veteran plaintiff personal injury lawyer, Karl represents injured accident victims from all walks of life. His practice covers all aspects of personal injury litigation and insurance claims.
Karl has represented accident victims before all levels of courts in Ontario including the Supreme Court of Ontario, the Superior Court of Ontario and the Ontario Court of Appeal. He has handled many trials and appeals and has numerous reported decisions. He has been involved in proceedings before the Supreme Court of Canada and the Federal Court of Appeal. He has also appeared before various Boards and Tribunals in the Province of Ontario including the Ontario Insurance Commission, the Financial Services Commission of Ontario and the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board.
Karl has been called upon to speak at conferences hosted by The Ontario Trial Lawyers Association and the Advocates Society and takes pride in representing his clients to the fullest in order to ensure that they receive full and fair compensation for their losses which often involves taking matters to hearing or trial.
Karl is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association, the Canadian Bar Association, the Ontario Bar Association, the Middlesex Law Association and past member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America.
Chris Nicolis has more than 20 years’ experience dealing with serious personal injury cases, including motor vehicle accidents (both bodily injury and accident benefits claims), disability benefits claims, slips and falls, Occupiers’ Liability claims, WSIB and Canada Pension Plan disability claims.
He has appeared in numerous proceedings before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, Ontario Court of Appeal, Financial Services Commission of Ontario, WSIB Appeals Branch, Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal, Canada Pension Plan Appeals Review Tribunal and the Pension Appeals Board.
Born and raised in Toronto, Chris received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science at York University before attending Osgoode Hall Law School. He graduated in 1992 with a Bachelor of Laws. He was called to the Ontario Bar in 1994.
Chris is a member of The Law Society of Upper Canada, the Ontario Trial Lawyers’ Association, and the Middlesex Law Association.
Adam Stevenson joined Arvai Personal Injury Lawyers in January 2015, returning to London after articling in Markham at a personal injury firm. He obtained his Juris Doctor degree from the Western University in London and his practice includes assisting clients with personal injury cases, including motor vehicle accidents, statutory accident benefits, disability benefits claims, occupier’s liability claims and professional negligence.
While at Western, Adam was involved with the legal aid clinic assisting clients with tenant issues and will drafting. He was also involved in a community legal education program through Pro Bono Law Ontario. Before receiving his Juris Doctoral from Western University, Adam received an Honours Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from McMaster University. He was called to the bar in September 2014.
His memberships include the Law Society of Upper Canada and the Middlesex Law Association.
