Meet Matthew
Matthew Cassidy is an Associate Lawyer with our Business and Financial Services and Real Estate Law Groups.
Entrepreneurs, small and medium-sized businesses, shareholders and Boards of Directors turn to Matthew when they need to navigate legislation and regulations, require an opinion on a shareholder dispute, design a contract to govern business relationships or provide an opinion on a legal agreement.
His practice is focused on the changing needs of businesses throughout their life cycles. He brings a detail-oriented and customer-focused approach to incorporations, reorganizations, restructurings, shareholder agreements, mergers and acquisitions and commercial contacts.
Matthew maintains an active real estate practice serving as trusted counsel for buyers and sellers through standard and complex property transactions.
He earned a dual law degree from Michigan State College of Law and the University of Ottawa after graduating from American International College with a Business Management and Finance degree. He graduated as a Salutatorian of his class while playing Division I hockey and lacrosse during his four years at AIC. He was also a three-time Atlantic Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
A native of Brampton, Matt moved to London in his teens and has been a sports enthusiast for most of his life. He played hockey for the London Junior Knights and lacrosse for the London Blue Devils & Western Jr. Mustangs. He now volunteers as an assistant coach with the London Junior Knights Midget AAA team.
While attending MSU, Matt volunteered with the Alvin L. Storrs Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic, a free legal-aid clinic that provides legal services to low-income taxpayers experiencing challenges with the Internal Revenue Service.
When not serving his clients, Matthew enjoys spending time with his family and volunteering with youth. Matthew continues to enjoy an active lifestyle through hockey, golf, tennis and hiking. He also has a passion for European travel and live concerts.
