Meet Matthew


Matthew Bota is a Partner at Harrison Pensa with the Wills, Estates, Trusts, and Charities & Not-for-Profit Law group, the Business Law and Financial Services Law group, and the Tax Law group.

Matthew advises clients on a variety of tax, corporate, trust and estate planning matters. His multi-faceted practice is connected by his interest in tax law:

•  Developing estate plans for his clients to ensure their wishes are carried out in a tax efficient manner
•  Counseling estate trustees and trustees in all aspects of estate and trust administration
•  Establishing non-profit organizations and assisting those organizations with applications to obtain registered charity status
•  Advising non-profit organizations and charities on asset management, administration, governance and fundraising
•  Corporate reorganizations, including the implementation of “estate freezes” for succession planning
•  Representing taxpayers in various types of tax controversy matters, including income tax, GST/HST and director’s liability
•  Tax advice and assistance for audits, reassessments and, when necessary, preparing voluntary disclosures to the applicable tax authority
