Jonathan Lin is a Partner in the Business Law and Financial Services Group at Harrison Pensa. Jonathan has a diversified corporate and commercial law practice, focusing on mergers and acquisitions, securities, corporate finance, private equity, banking and corporate governance. He has significant experience advising multinational private and public corporations, and private equity funds, in connection with domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions.
Jonathan also regularly works on matters involving start-up ventures and owner-operated enterprises, joint ventures and partnerships, complex shareholder agreements, corporate reorganizations, venture capital investments and other strategic transactions. He represents and acts as a trusted advisor to clients across a broad range of industries, including manufacturing, healthcare, pharmacy, dental, automotive, vehicle rental, fitness, construction, technology, insurance, real estate, cannabis, cryptocurrency and food and beverage.
Prior to joining Harrison Pensa, Jonathan practiced at a leading Bay Street firm in Toronto, Ontario where he gained extensive experience acting for private and public companies in connection with complex domestic and international corporate transactions (i.e., share and asset sales and acquisitions, public equity and debt offerings, private placements, PIPE transactions, seed round offerings and investments, IPOs and secured lending arrangements), shareholder disputes, matters impacting start-ups and early-stage companies, continuous disclosure and governance obligations and general corporate and commercial law.
Jonathan received his J.D. from the University of Western Ontario where he graduated with distinction and was awarded the Law Society of Upper Canada Prize and the Dean of Law Entrance Scholarship.
Prior to law school, Jonathan obtained a M.A. degree from McGill University and a B.A. (Honours) degree from the University of Windsor. He received a number of awards while at McGill and Windsor, including Dean’s List honours and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council Master’s Scholarship. At Windsor, Jonathan was a member of the Windsor Lancers varsity football team and achieved Academic All-Canadian recognition.
Jonathan was born and raised in London, Ontario. In addition to being dedicated to his practice, he enjoys playing a variety of sports (soccer, golf, flag football, squash, snowboarding, cycling), learning new songs on his acoustic guitar and managing his fantasy football team. He recently developed an interest in changing diapers, reading baby books and playing peek-a-boo following the arrival of his daughter, Gia.
