Hilary Jenkins is an associate lawyer in the Family Law Group at HARRISON PENSA™. She represents both private and legal aid clients in all matters arising out of separation including parenting disputes, custody and access, child and spousal support and division of property as well as matters involving the Children’s Aid Society.
Clients rely on Hilary for her experience, sound legal counsel and ability to address the needs of her clients while recommending client-centred, cost-effective recommendations. Whether she is working with spouses to help resolve disputes arising from their separation, or with grandparents and family members seeking custody or access to children, Hilary strives to minimize conflict and resolutions that are in the best interests of her clients and their families, particularly when they involve children.
Hilary joined Harrison Pensa in early 2019. Prior to joining the HP team she worked at Community Legal Services at Western University as Review Counsel for Family and Criminal Law and a local family law firm as an Associate.
Hilary graduated from Huron University College at Western University with an Honours Specialization in English Literature and Language before going on to complete her Law degree at Western Law. While at law school, Hilary developed a passion for access to justice and family law as the Family Law Student Supervisor at Western’s student legal clinic, Community Legal Services. As a law student, she was the recipient of the Edna Yuet-Lui Memorial Award, the Douglas May Memorial Award and the Genest Murray Award for Advocacy.
Hilary’s passion for her work and for the legal profession continues on today. When she is not serving her clients, she is involved with Western Law through volunteer work with Pro Bono Students’ Canada, as a practice-mentor for the Introduction to Alternative Dispute Resolution Intensive Module, as a facilitator for the Litigation Practice Course, and as an Adjunct Professor for the Family Law Externship at Western Law. Hilary also currently serves as the Chair of the Ontario Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division for South Western Ontario and an executive member of the Middlesex Family Law Association and is a regular volunteer with London Lawyers Feed the Hungry. Hilary also holds memberships with the Law Society of Ontario and the Middlesex Law Association.
When she is not serving clients, volunteering, mentoring or teaching, you will often find Hilary reading a great book or spending time with friends and family, cooking and hosting dinner parties.
