Clayton Brent


Clayton Brent is an Associate with Insurance Defence and Subrogation, and the Estate Litigation groups at Harrison Pensa. Clayton’s insurance practice focuses primarily on insurance defence, negligence, and subrogated actions arising out of fire, flood, automobile, and defective product claims. His Estates practice covers will and executorship contestations, spousal and dependent’s claims, trust disputes, guardianships, and capacity litigation. Clayton’s litigation experience also includes construction litigation, general contract disputes, and professional liability claims. Clayton is on the preferred counsel list for LawPro, Ontario’s professional liability insurer for lawyers.

Clayton is typically involved in cases that take place in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice but also has experience in the Ontario Court of Justice and Small Claims Court. His conscientious and detail-oriented approach results in frequent engagement in complex claims and high-level disputes. He diligently prioritizes efficient and pragmatic solutions to avoid protracted litigation for his clients, both institutional and individual.

Clayton holds a diploma in Captioning and Court Reporting from NAIT, a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of Windsor, and a Juris Doctor from Windsor Law. His academic and work history also include architecture, civil engineering, experience building houses with Habitat for Humanity, and several years working as a Court Reporter in Windsor-Essex County.

When not serving his clients, Clayton enjoys spending time with family and friends, is an avid fan of hockey and tennis, and enjoys reading history and philosophy.
