Our firm also prosecuted a mass negligence case involving the failure of government regulators to sufficiently police or restrict the activities of a fraudulent mortgage broker. We represented approximately 150 plaintiffs who were defrauded of millions of dollars over the relevant period of time. This action contained an element of extreme risk because Canadian common law has imposed a series of tests that make it extremely difficult to find any liability against a government entity for its failure to enforce a statutory regime.
