Harrison Pensa is hiring a permanent, full-time General Litigation Legal Assistant. The ideal candidate will be proactive, with the ability to handle multi-tasking, and have a high degree of organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities of a Litigation Legal Assistant

  • Supporting lawyers with assembling and organizing client case information;
  • Scheduling meetings, appointments, conference calls, etc.;
  • Preparing necessary court forms and filing electronically;
  • Drafting correspondence pertaining to general litigation matters to clients and lawyers;
  • Ensuring accurate legal documents are prepared within timelines set by the lawyer(s) or applicable court dates;
  • Keeping client information up to date;
  • Communicating with clients and other external parties, both over the phone and in person, regarding initial intake or ongoing file management;
  • Proofreading/editing of documents;
  • Arranging and filing court documents;
  • Liaise with court staff to set motion dates, court appointments, etc.;
  • Assisting other lawyers and staff within the firm when necessary;
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary Law Clerk Diploma or related discipline;
  • 2 years of experience as a Legal Assistant;
  • Experience in litigation is considered an asset;
  • Excellent organizational, attention to detail, and time-management skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment, adjusts to changing priorities, and multi-tasking skills;
  • Ability to work as a team player and independently;
  • Efficient self-starter and quick learner;
  • Courteous, client-focused, and professional attitude;
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills;
  • Knowledge of legal terminology;
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office and Legal Industry Software.
