Harrison Pensa LLP in partnership with Western Law is pleased to announce that Senator Roméo Dallaire will be coming to London, Ontario to deliver a keynote presentation: “The will to intervene” at the Annual Claude and Elaine Pensa Lecture in Human Rights. This free public lecture takes place on March 23 at 12:30 p.m. in Room. 38 at The Faculty of Law at Western University.

The Claude and Elaine Pensa Lecture in Human Rights at Western was established in 2006. It honours not only Claude Pensa’s longstanding career but also the commitment he and his late wife, Elaine, shared in the area of human rights.
The inaugural Pensa Lecture was delivered by Michael Ignatieff, former leader of the federal Liberal Party, on the topic “Speaking Up for Human Rights: The Canadian Challenge.” Other speakers in the series include: Supreme Court Justice Ian Binnie; Justice Richard Goldstone, former Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunals for the former Yugoslavia and Rwanda; Philippe Sands, a Professor of international law at University College London and Chief Phil Fontaine, the former National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations.
About Senator Roméo Dallaire
Roméo Dallaire is a Canadian Senator (appointed to the Senate effective March 24, 2005 and sits as a member of the Liberal Party of Canada) and retired Canadian Army Lieutenant-General. A devoted humanitarian, Lieutenant General (LGen) Dallaire is President of the Lieutenant-General Roméo Dallaire Foundation; founder of the Child Soldiers Initiative, a project aimed at eradicating the use of child soldiers; an outspoken advocate for Human Rights, particularly War-Affected Children, Women, the Canadian First Nations, and Military Veterans; a respected champion of Genocide Prevention initiatives, the Responsibility to Protect doctrine, and Nuclear Non-Proliferation, as well as a best-selling author.
