HP Innovation

At Harrison Pensa, we know the world is changing. The current economic climate means tougher competition and more price-sensitive customers for our business clients, while our private clients are juggling dozens of different priorities and can’t afford to waste precious time or resources. Both types of clients want common-sense solutions to their legal issues, delivered efficiently and cost-effectively.

At the same time, technology is changing virtually everything around us. The internet has done far more than allow us to download movies or join Facebook to keep an eye on our kids: it has transformed the way professional services can be accessed and delivered. Increasingly, technology is allowing clients to gain more control over their own legal affairs and to gain faster and better access to the law firms that are handling those affairs.

We recognize all these changes and we’ve responded to these needs by making innovation an integral part of our business. Unlike other law firms, we don’t do things “the way they’ve always been done” — instead, we ask: “How could we do this better? What would best serve our clients’ interests?” We adopt technology and invest in systems to build a more efficient firm, allowing us to improve both the quality and accessibility of our services.

Take a look at some of the advances we’ve made in legal services systematization and delivery.

Litigation Executive

Developed in 2001 for a financial institution with more than 400 branches throughout Canada, Litigation Executive automates the legal enforcement of delinquent debts. This 24/7/365 debt recovery platform provides lenders with efficiency, cost control and accountability through a collaborative system for managing workflow, coordinating communications, processing accounts and reporting results.

Now available to all our financial institution clients, Litigation Executive’s centralized network system provides a secure electronic account intake process, on-demand reporting, and electronic invoicing, all on a fixed-fee basis. The system’s Audit Trail function provides a chronological list of all actions on a client’s account by date, time, organization and user. Our clients rely on this system as the linchpin of their debt recovery practices.

File Tracker

Based on the Litigation Executive platform, File Tracker goes several points better. This latest and most advanced version of our system includes a comprehensive and robust “collection floor” for credit and collection agencies, provides comparative performance indexing across numerous separate agencies and law firms for real-time spend management, and enables batched debt recovery assignments.

File Tracker allows for fixed-fee, hourly or contingency-based compensation for lenders and insurers, and enables the triaging of accounts including scoring, scrubbing, and determination of an asset’s or suit’s worthiness. Our system is currently being used by national and multi-national insurance companies for insurance defence and subrogated claims, and is being examined by other providers in the credit, collection and insurance industries.

PrivacyTool

Based on the PolicyTool platform, PrivacyTool generates a privacy policy for a website or company. The system guides users through a simple 11-step questionnaire that produces a customized privacy policy for their organization. As with PolicyTool, each question is accompanied by brief legal information or advice provided by Harrison Pensa lawyers to help guide the user to the right conclusions.

We consider PrivacyTool to be a prime example of the evolution of legal services in the internet age. We’ve condensed an array of legal knowledge and content into a simple, user-friendly Q-and-A process that doesn’t require any specialized expertise to navigate. This is where legal services are heading, and Harrison Pensa is proud to be leading the way towards the legal profession’s innovative future. Visit us at www.policytool.net to learn more.

Web Terms of Use

Coming later in 2012, the latest development from our PolicyTool platform will be a website “Terms of Use” generator. Check this space throughout 2012 for updates on the forthcoming Terms of Use engine.
